Rally Talsi – a celebration in Talsi
This weekend, in Talsi and its nearby regions – Mordanga, Pastende, Mundigciems, and Strazde – the third round of the Lativan Rally Championship, Rally Talsi, will take place. As usual, there will be various activities taking place in Talsi, making it possible to enjoy the rally without leaving the city. Meanwhile, Talsi inhabitants should also keep in mind that this year, there are 12 more reasons to go out to the stages – this year’s rally is contested by 12 crews that represent Talsi and its region:

Rally Talsi takes place this weekend
This weekend, on May 18 and 19, the third round of the Latvian Rally Championship, Rally Talsi, will take place. The event will also host rallysprint competitors, with a total of 71 crews tackling the stages, and 15 historic racing cars also joining the action. Another 30 crews will take part in the Rally Talsi historic car regularity event, increasing the total number of participants to 116.

For the first time Alexander Mikhaylov to battle for the Champions Cup
Rally Talsi is also known as the Rally of Champions! One of the crews battling for the 2018 Rally Talsi Champions Cup will be Alexander Mikhaylov and Normunds Kokins in an N4 group Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. In 2017, they won the Latvian Rally Championship LRČ2 class, and this year, after the first two events, they are in third place overall. For Alexander and Normunds, this will be the first time battling for the Champions Cup, but they are already quite familiar with Rally Talsi. Alexander will be competing here for the seventh time, while it will be the twelfth time for Normunds, for whom this was also the first ever event, after rally spectator turned into co-driver.

Lithuanian motorsports star Benediktas Vanagas to compete for Rally Talsi Champions Cup
One of the most popular Lithuanian racing car drivers, 2017 Lithuanian rally champion Benediktas Vanagas is set to compete for the travelling Champions Cup in Rally Talsi. He rarely competes in Latvia, but for more than 15 years has been known as a rally driver in Lithuania, as well as a Dakar rally-raid competitor. Vanagas has contested Rally Talsi twice – in 2011 he finished twentieth in N4 class with a Subaru Impreza WRX, while last year he did much better and, even after a cautious start, managed to finish seventh overall in a Škoda Fabia R5.
