The 53-year-old Henning Solberg is the older brother of WRC and WorldRX Champion Petter Solberg, and the uncle of current WRC driver Oliver Solberg.

The idea to compete in Rally "KURZEME 2026" came up during a private conversation with Mārtiņš Sesks. Following the discussion, the experienced Norwegian driver reviewed onboards from previous years and liked what he saw. With some backing from the rally organizers, Henning Solberg decided to experience our gravel stages in full race mode.

At Rally "KURZEME 2026", Solberg will compete behind the wheel of a "Proto 01" car prepared by "Sports Racing Technologies".

Henning Solberg began his rallying career in mid 1990s and claimed five consecutive Norwegian Rally Championship titles from 1999 to 2003. He spent several years competing in the World Rally Championship as a privateer before signing with the "Bozian Racing" team in 2004, securing an impressive 6th place finish on their first event in Sweden.

In 2005, Henning Solberg joined the "BP Ford World Rally Team", partnering alongside Finland's Toni Gardemeister and Czech driver Roman Kresta for a full World Championship campaign. His season-best result was a 4th place finish at the WRC Cyprus Rally, concluding the year 14th in the drivers' championship standings.

In 2006, driving for the "OMV Peugeot Norway World Rally Team", Henning Solberg clinched his maiden WRC podium by finishing third overall at the Rally of Turkey. At the end of that season, Henning was invited to a unique challenge on the popular British motoring show “Top Gear”, which compared whether a rally-spec "Mitsubishi Lancer Evo" racing alongside the Lillehammer bobsleigh track could beat a bobsleigh sled on the ice.

Henning Solberg achieved his highest career rankings in the WRC overall classification while driving for the "Stobart M-Sport" squad, finishing 6th in the championship standings in both the 2007 and 2009 seasons.

In total, Henning Solberg has 133 WRC starts to his name, with three podium finishes and 33 special stage wins. His last WRC appearance was at the 2019 Rally Turkey, but he continues to compete in the Norwegian Championship, securing yet another national title in 2024 alongside his experienced co-driver Ilka Minor.
