    Rally Talsi Spectator Guide

Today, on May 16th, the shakedown stage will be run, but the official opening ceremony and rally start is scheduled for Saturday, May 17th. The 2014 edition of Rally Talsi or the Rally of Champions will run through Sunday, with the awards ceremony held in the afternoon. This is the first summer rally of Latvian and Lithuanian rally championships, so we’ve made a brief summary of the most important information you’ll need in order to get the best out of this event.

Rally Talsi entrance cards
Rally Talsi entrance cards for all stages costs EUR 15,00 / LVL 10,54, and they can be bought at the entrance of stages and also on road P120, after entering Talsi (when coming from Riga), right before the Talsi roundabout. Rally Talsi stages can be viewed for free by children aged 10 years or younger and by disabled people (you will have to show a valid document to the ticket controller). People in retirement, however, will get a 10% discount for one ticket if a valid documentation can be shown to the ticket controller.

At the entrance of stages, it is also possible to get a ticket for viewing a single special stage and this costs EUR 10,00 / LVL 7,03.

Rally Talsi special stage maps
Special stage maps with spectator viewpoint descriptions are available in the May issue of TopGear Latvija magazine. We highly suggest buying the magazine before leaving for Talsi, so that you can plan everything in advance. You can also view the stage maps on the official website of the race – www.rallytalsi.lv.

Rally radio
Rally Talsi friends will be able to hear the newest information on the official Latvian Rally Championship (LRC) internet radio. Rally radio correspondents Uldis Kaņeps-Kalniņš and Oskars Kaņeps-Kalniņš will be present at the finish of the stages in order to get the latest news from the competitors. Viesturs Saukāns, however, will be present at the studio and will inform you about the results as they become available.

Internet radio is available on the LRC official website – www.autorally.lv.

Results and news
Rally Talsi official results will be available online on the LRC website at www.autorally.lv, and on the official news portal of Rally Talsi – Delfi (www.delfi.lv). The results, driver comments and other news about Rally Talsi will also be available on the official website www.rallytalsi.lv, and on social media – Twitter @Rally_Talsi, draugiem.lv/rally_talsi and facebook.com/Rally-of-Champions.

Safety and behaviour when visiting stages
The organizer of Rally Talsi would like to remind that even though a lot of effort has been put towards making racing safe, it is still a very dynamic sport with high levels of danger. We advise all spectators to be extra cautious, always follow the instructions of the official persons of the rally and take care of not only your own safety, but the safety of others as well. Rally Talsi organizers would also like to remind you to not leave any garbage behind and clean everything up before leaving. The rally is taking place over a large territory and even though there are a lot of people helping, you can do your part in taking care of the environment as well. We would also like to remind spectators to respect the territories next to the Rally Talsi stages, the local people and their work, by not destroying their fields.

Historic cars on Talsi stages
The first day of Rally Talsi will also let spectators travel in time – about 1 hour and 45 minutes before the rally cars, you will be able to see historic cars that will be taking part in Rally Talsi regularity race. You will be able to see cars such as Opel Manta, Saab 96, Porsche 944 and BMW 2002ti. It will also be possible to see VAZ, GAZ and other cars, with nearly 30 participants in total.

Party at Cherry Club
On Saturday, May 17th you will be able to have a great time and spend some of the adrenaline accumulated during the first day at Rally Talsi by visiting the Cherry Club where, starting at 10PM, all Rally Talsi visitors will be entertained in the large hall by the always energetic race car driver and DJ [EX] DA BASS and his partner in Latvian and Baltic events, DJ MBERG. The small hall – Banana Room – will be hosted by DJ Robby D.

Entrance in Cherry Club will be free of charge if you have a Rally Talsi wristband and EUR 4,00 / LVL 2,81 if you do not.

Road works on A10 Rīga-Ventspils motorway
Rally Talsi organizer would like to remind you that there are ongoing road works on A10 Rīga-Ventspils motorway, and some parts of the road have only one lane available for both directions, enforced by traffic lights. Please keep in mind that due to this, it might take a longer time to get around in Talsi, which means that you should schedule your trips with some extra time to account for these changes.
