Latvian masters win the Battle of rally legends

Fierce race led Latvian team with a line-up of such legendary drivers, as Ivars Caune, Andris Kārkliņš and Agris Staņevičs won the Battle of rally legends and the travelling cup presented by Mārtiņš Sesks, founder of rally "Kurzeme", during the speed festival - rally "Kurzeme 2015".

2nd position was taken by the Estonian team represented by Margus Murakas, Raido Rüütel and the Russian champion Stanislav Gryazin, in their turn Lithuanian rally legends Eugenijus Tumalevicius, Rolandas Mackevicius and Egidijus Paulauskas were in the 3rd position.

Battle of rally legends took place in two stages, and the first of them at Vecpils cross-country race track was won by Lithuanians, who thus won the title of the kings of gravel, while Estonian racers were left in the third positions.

After the race sportsmen admitted they were happy to meet their old brothers in arms, with whom they fought shoulder to shoulder in rally tracks 20 and even 30 years ago, however, a real excitement and wish to be a winner prevailed in the race track this year.

"If a real driver sees a wheel in front of him, he goes flat-out, no matter what," said A.Kārkliņš. Mistakes allowed on the track by the rally masters was another factor showing on uncompromising battle and wish to win.

Participants of the Battle of rally legends drove equal rear-drive cars "Ford Escort MK2", which were manufactured in the 70-ies of the last century and in the past were among the best rally cars. Power of these cars exceeds 200 horse-powers, therefore even the titled participants of the Battle of rally legends had to concentrate a lot of effort to achieve the best possible result.
