Liepāja native Mārtiņš Sesks was only 0,046 behind the top three, in his debut event in an all-wheel drive Škoda Fabia R5. Ralfs Sirmacis, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, set the third quickest time in his class (and twentieth quickest overall). Reinis Nitišs, one of the three drivers competing in the unique rear-wheel drive Abarth 124 Rally, was second quickest among his peers (and thirty-sixth overall). All three Abarth crews set times within 0.567 seconds of each other.

Friday evening, the Rally Liepāja opening ceremony will take place next to the LOC Manēža, after which the drivers will go on a parade through Liepāja city streets, also driving by the Great Amber.
