The best European Performers of Moto Stunts to delight the Audience of the Speed Festival

Within the Speed Festival – Rally ‘Kurzeme 2013’ on 30 and 31 August the North European Streetbike Freestyle Championship ‘Kurland Stunt 2013’ will take place in Liepaja. On both festival days the best stunt riders from European countries will gather at Liepaja Harbour pier No. 50, which is located at the end of Siļķu Street beside the ferry terminal, to compete in their mastery when performing technically complicated and exciting stunts on motorbikes.

The organiser of the Streetbike Freestyle Championship Mārtiņš Arents says that the audience will especially love not only the attractive performances of the championship, but also such additional disciplines as the best fall and the most extreme stunt. The North European Streetbike Freestyle Championship will be judged by three professional judges: Jeremy Vonk (Netherlands), Marcus Larsson (Sweden) and Dmitry Klevakin (Russia). The jury will assess the performance of the participants by granting points for the complexity level, variety and precision of the performed stunts, as well as for the attractiveness of the riding. ‘This type of sport has nothing to do with aggressive riding on public roads and taking part in traffic. This type of sport is the highest acrobatic form of riding a street motorbike,’ adds M. Arents.

On the first day of the Speed Festival, on 30 August at 5:00 p.m. at Liepaja Harbour pier No. 50, moto stunt men will have their free training, but on 31 August at 12:00 p.m. the Northern European Streetbike Freestyle Championship will be officially opened.

The organiser of the Speed Festival Uldis Hmielevskis reminds that this year Rally ‘Kurzeme’ will celebrate its 48th anniversary and that many different types of sport are represented within it. ‘Each year we offer the audience a different type of sport – this year it will be Streetbike Freestyle. I have personally seen the performance of our sportsman Jānis Rozītis right here in Liepāja and I have to admit that it is a bright and attractive performance. We have managed to organise the championship of moto stuntmen near Lauma housing estate – I think that this will be a great opportunity for the residents of Lauma district to enjoy the highest level performances of moto sportsmen next to their homes,’ says U. Hmielevskis.
