And also parade of the candidates for the title “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR” at Liepāja Speed Festival “Rally Kurzeme” has become a tradition. The aim of the competition is by support of a competent jury, mass media and car traders to present to the Latvian society the latest car manufacturer achievements available on the Latvian market.

This year it will be possible to view the latest cars not only at the rally speed stage, but also the dragrace line. In order that the Speed Festival spectators could obtain more information on the cars, the event organizers have arranged the second round of the “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR” to take place in two days. On Saturday, 25 August, at 16:30 the car parade will be on the track of the Liepāja Dairy Plant, the parking of the supermarket “Rietumu Centrs”, whereas on Sunday, 26 August, at 13:00 - DragRace track, at the Pulvera street section from no Cukura street till 14. novembra boulevard. In the course of both days spectators of the rally will be consulted by car manufacturer representatives by providing information on technical parameters and updates of particular cars.

“For a family, a car purchase is a serious financial investment; therefore people often search for information on the internet or turn for advice to friends. The car purchase criteria should be more serious than “price” and “like” or “dislike”. The competition “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR” is a great way of finding out additional information about new cars,” tells the competition organizer Māris Ozoliņš.

On 19 May there was the first car test stage of “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR” where the jury went to Krimulda region and tested the first car novelties on the Latvian market that applied for the competition, however, at that stage, candidates for the title “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR” were not rated with points. At “Rally Kurzeme” which is the second car test stage of the, the jury will rate the cars with points. In September and October there will come further car test stages, and the “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR” will be found out on 1 December when the final will be held and the overall points calculated.

We remind that the “Latvian CAR OF THE YEAR 2011” was recognized “Volkswagen Jetta”, which at the overall rating scored 186 points, in the second place was “Ford Focus” with 143 points and the third place - “Range Rover Evouqe” with 125 points. The competition is supported by the new cars portal www.JauniAuto.lv, Delfi, Latvijas Avīze, Telegraf, garaza.lv, FHM, Ātruma Cilts and 10minutes.lv. The Speed Festival “Rally Kurzeme 2012” takes place thanks to the support of LDz Ritošā Sastāva Serviss, SEB Līzings, Lauma Fabrics, Vega 1, Liepāja City Council and Liepāja SEZ, Canon IBServiss, IF Apdrošināšana, Cēsu Alus and many other companies. The official car of the rally is from Skandi Motors.

Entrance cards to the Speed Festival “Rally Kurzeme 2012” are available at „BezRindas.lv” and ticket offices of “Biļešuserviss.lv”. Entrance card to all the Speed Festival Competitions – LVL 7, to separate speed stages or competitions – 3 lats. Children till 14 years of age enjoy free entrance.
