“Situation around the Covid-19 virus and its spread globally has been changing very rapidly, and we will continue to monitor the situation and consult the experts. Though, we have set a rescheduled date for Rally Liepāja, our top priority – organising a safe event for all the competitors, spectators, and our personnel – has not changed,” comments Rally Liepāja director Raimonds Strokšs.
“In a timely manner, already a couple of weeks ago, we started consultation with our partners Eurosport Events, FIA, as well as rally cities Liepāja and Talsi to find the best possible reserve date in case we had to reschedule. We did consider other events taking place in the cities, running dates of other events of the Championship, logistics for teams and their true ability to prepare the cars for the event. At the moment, the July date was the sole alternative we could plan to host the competition in Latvia.
Meanwhile, I encourage everyone to follow the rules and recommendations enforced in your country. Only acting collectively, we can help fight the spread of the virus. Stay home, be safe, and, hopefully, let us meet in July!” says Raimonds Strokšs.
Tickets already purchased will be valid also for the rescheduled running of Rally Liepāja.
FIA European Rally Championship round Rally Liepāja is possible thanks to the support provided by the Latvian government, rally city Liepāja, as well as the Talsi region. Thanks to our sponsors Neste, Ramirent, and SC Grupa, our car rental partner Sixt, as well as supporters Canon Business Center – IB Serviss, Liepājas Olimpiskais Centrs, Pafbet, and Swecon. Informative support is provided by DELFI and media partners JCDecaux Latvija, Kurzemes Vārds, Sporta Avīze, Talsu Vēstis, and Zebra. The event would also not be possible without the involvement of all Rally Liepāja friends: Baltic Taxi, Flora, FN Serviss, Fristads, Jānis Pūce, Latvijas Pārtikas Ražotājs, Lofbergs, MB Grupa, Meža Dārzs, Red Bull, SignTech, Sportland, and Törley.
