Autobrava winner’s race and Seat Ateca unveiling to take place during Rally Latvija

During the last round of the Latvian Rally Championship, Rally Latvia, a special “Autobrava winner’s race”, a competition between past Rally Latvija winners – Ivars Caune, Ivars Vasaraudzis, Mārtiņš Balodis, Jānis Vorobjovs, and Aivis Egle will take place. During the race, drivers will have to be the fastest through a track set up inside Biķernieki Complex Sports Base while driving a Seat Ateca, and will only be able to use the car’s built-in 360 degree video cameras to see the track.

I am pleased to say that Autobrava has become involved in Latvian Rally Championship this year, and, in addition to the many Rally Latvija disciplines, will provide two more activities. First of all, we will have the official unveiling of SEAT Ateca – an SUV made for the city – taking place on Saturday at 11.00 in Biķernieki!

After the presentation, there will be a special race with some past Rally Latvija winners as competitors! They will be driving the newly unveiled Seat Ateca, with all the windows blacked out so that the only way to see anything will be through the car’s built-in 360 degree video cameras. This competition will be for the fastest time and attending media, as well as rally fans, will also be able to have a go in the new Seat Ateca!” Andris Sivickis, director of Autobrava, invites everyone to Biķernieki.

I am happy that Rally Latvija supporter Autobrava is getting so involved in this event in our first year of collaboration, providing rally fans and media with such exciting news and an opportunity to meet some past winners of Rally Latvija. I hope that spectators use this opportunity to stop by in Biķernieki before heading out to the first stages in Jūrmala!” says Rally Latvija organizer Jānis Krastiņš.

Rally Latvia takes place on October 22 and 23, and in the city of Jūrmala, surroundings of Tukums, as well as two racetracks – Biķernieki circuit and Sports complex 333 will host not only modern rally cars, but also historic cars. Crews competing with modern rally cars will be battling in three separate events – the Latvian Rally Championship, FIA European Rally Cup, and the Baltic Rally Cup. Meanwhile, those who are just beginning their rally careers, and are looking to compete in the longer distances in the near future, will be able to race in three events based on their current capabilities – rallysprint, rally supersprint and minirally! Historic Rally Latvia has also served up something special for this year – in addition to a regularity rally, historic cars will also compete for the fastest times on the stages.

Rally Latvija tickets are now on sale in Hydroscand locations in Rīga and Tukums!

Rally Latvia would like to thank its partner – Jūrmala city council – for their support in organizing the final event of the 2016 Latvian Rally Championship, and would like to thank sponsors Conti STL and DMACK. Thank you to supporters Autobrava, Hydroscand and Prodex. Informative support is provided by TVNET.

More information about the event, and the results of Rally Latvia, is available on the official Latvian Rally Championship website http://autorally.lv/, as well as on social media: Twitter, facebook, and YouTube.
