Rally Talsi to open Latvian rally summer season

Today, the first Rally Talsi official document, Rally Guide 1, has been published, containing information about how the event will be run. Rally Talsi or, as it is alternatively known, Rally of Champions, will host the fourth event of the Latvian Rally Championship and take place from Saturday, May 16 to Sunday, May 17. It will also be a part of the Lithuanian Rally Championship (LARC), North European Zone (NEZ) Rally Championship and the NEZ Junior Championship, along with a regularity rally for Youngtimer class cars.

Rally Talsi has kept its place in the Latvian Rally Championship (LRC) calendar in 2015, and will again be the first rally of summer season. Just like last year, the event will begin on Thursday, May 14, when the crews will undergo administrative checks and receive all rally documentation. Friday will host the recce and shakedown stage. The rally ceremonial start and first stages will take place on Saturday, May 16, with Rally Talsi concluding on Sunday, when, after doing more than 100 stage kilometers, the drivers will return to Talsi city square for the awards ceremony.

“Myself and the whole RA EVENTS team are thrilled that the past rallies have been highly rated outside of Latvia as well, leading to this year’s rally also being a part of the Lithuanian Rally Championship (LARC), North European Zone (NEZ) Rally Championship, and NEZ Junior Championship calendar. Lithuanian Automobile Federation is celebrating its 25 year anniversary in 2015, thus, we are especially honored to host LARC event in Talsi and be a part of a remarkable year for our southern neighbours,” energetic is director of Rally Talsi Raimonds Strokšs.

”Each year is different – a new generation arrives, with their own personal values. But some things do not change and remain a dream for the whole society. Faster, higher, stronger – an old Latin formulation of the human competitive spirit, is fully encompassed in sports. This is why Rally Talsi is so popular among motorsports enthusiasts. During springtime, the nature awakens – flowers sprout in the meadows and the woods seem to come alive. Simultaneously, summer cherries, lilacs and jasmines blossom in Talsi. Rally Talsi, however, is the event that truly awakens our region and paves the way for summer. I would like to wish you all to have an unforgettable event – enjoy this display of pure motorsport! Experience the nature and the beauty of Talsi and have a great summer! Hopefully you will be faster, higher and stronger!” chairman of Talsi city council Aivars Lācarus invites to Rally Talsi in an optimistic manner.

Talsi will also host the Rally of Champions, where the rally champions from various countries are welcome to battle it out and find who the champion among champions is. For the second year in a row, the spectators will also be able to look into the past with Youngtimer cars tackling the Saturday stages before the rally cars, albeit taking part in a regularity rally not fighting for the fastest stage times.

Along with the publishing of Rally Guide 1, special rules regarding the Restricted Area have come into effect. This is an area in the Talsi region which the competitors can visit only with a special authorization from the rally organizer RA EVENTS. It is a typical practice in rallying, as it means that both local and international crews will have no previous knowledge of this year’s stages, providing an even playing field for everyone.
