In winter of 2015, Reinis Nitišs (co-driven by his rally coach Māris Neikšāns) competed in his first ever rally (Rally Liepāja), doing so in a front-wheel drive R2 class car. His return to the city of wind will be in an all-wheel drive car, with him competing in a Neiksans Rally Sport prepared group N4 Mitsubishi Evo IX.

“This will be my third ever rally and the second in an all-wheel drive car. As opposed to rallycross, in rally you have to race over a long distance, maintaining focus and always being ready for unexpected events. All of that, combined with the advice of my coach Māris [Neikšāns], gives me new experience, helps to improve my driving and ability to adapt to unexpected situations,” begins Reinis Nitišs.

“Thanks to the support of Circle K, this will be my second rally of the year, and I will get to race with relatively recent experience in rallying. It will definitely come in handy this time, as the rally will begin with a qualifying stage – even though the particular stage is short, the result in it can be a major factor in determining how the rally will go, so it will be important to be fast from the start.”

“Rallying gives Reinis [Nitišs] a new perspective on things that can and do happen during an event. Even though our main goal is to reach the finish, which will be quite a challenge due to the total distance of 200 stage kilometres, we are not going to Liepāja for relaxation – we will try and get the best possible result,” says Māris Neikšāns, the co-driver and rally coach of Reinis Nitišs.

Rally Liepāja will take place from October 6 to 8 in Liepāja and its nearby regions.
