Latvian Rally Championship

Today, the LAF Rally Commission has confirmed clarifications in the 2024 Regulations, determining that for a crew to be included in any of the Latvian Rally Championship (Championship) scoring groups LRC1, LRC2, LRC3, LRC4, LRC5, LRC6, LRC7 – the crew must have a valid "rally" license (event or season), the crew's car must comply with technical regulations, and the crew must use "Pirelli" tires of a specified size and specification for participation in the rally. Meanwhile, foreign crews also need to pay a separate Championship registration fee. "Taking into account the experience of the 2023 season, we have clarified the procedure by which a crew can be included in one of the Latvian Rally Championship scoring groups, receive the Championship event winner's cups and Championship scoring points. With these changes, we will avoid misunderstandings in the future when one of the crews could receive the Latvian Championship round winner's cup, while not receiving Latvian Championship points," says Raimonds Strokšs, the head of the LAF Rally Commission.

At the same time, we remind participants that changes were already included in the Annual Regulations, providing that a one-time "rally" license can be obtained once during the 2024 season. We also remind you that in the future, all crews starting in the stage of the Latvian Rally Championship will be included in the LRC1 scoring group, thus making this group the absolute scoring group of the championship.

Latvian Rallysprint Cup Competition

Today, it has also been clarified who can receive scoring points in the Latvian Rallysprint Cup competition, stating that in the 2024 season, participants who start in rallysprint competitions with an event "rallysprint" license can also receive them. "Previously, participants with an event license did not receive scoring points, thus allowing participants who start with season licenses to become the season winners. Since rallysprint participants can acquire a one-time license once during the 2024 season, such a restriction is no longer required – and it is intended that all rallysprint competition participants, regardless of the type of "rallysprint" license, will be able to receive the Latvian Rallysprint Cup competition round winner's cups and scoring points at the end of the competition," comments Raimonds Strokšs.

Trophies awarded by the rally organizers

It was also considered that multiple competitions are taking place simultaneously at rallies in Latvia, and the participants have to comply with various technical regulations – for example, participants of the Estonian Rally Championship will also participate in the rally "Alūksne", competitors of the Baltic Sea Countries Rally Championship will participate in the rally "Sarma", and participants of the Lithuanian Rallysprint Championship will participate in the rally "Cēsis". To promote the spirit of competition among all these crews, the LAF Rally Commission invites the organizers of rallies taking place in Latvia to introduce separate rally scoring groups (outside the previously used LRC1, LRC2...), thus combining all crews with technically different cars into a couple of unifying scoring groups.
