    Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja leading hot and fast rallyfestival Shell Helix Rally Estonia

    Saturday morning 8.18 this years biggest autosport event Shell Helix Rally Estonia kicked off with the first stage. It was a long and hot day full of fast stages with spectacular jumps. First day included total 11 stages and huge crowd of fans witnessed how Estonian own stars from Toyota Gazoo Racing WRC Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja (Toyota Yaris WRC) were dominating the stages.

Tänak and Järveoja won total 8 stages and the gap between them and Citroen Racing drivers Craig Breen and Scott Martin (Citroen C3 WRC) is 20,7 seconds.

“It was a proper day for us. I was complaining about the starting position (first on the road) but actually is everything okay. We’ve gathered lot of data, the stages are just great and it is a awesome event. It was good say in our home stages with tons of fans cheering for every driver,” said Tänak.

Like Tänak was Breen happy with the day and he snatched two stage wins from Tänak. “All together was it a good day for us. We have moved forward which is good for the next events in WRC. Estonian fans and the atmosphere, just great,” said Breen after the last stage.

Third overall after first day were Hayden Paddon and Seb Marshall (Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC) from Hyundai Motorsport. Gap between them and the leaders is 29,81 seconds and they won one stage.

“We’re are happy with the day. We’ve tried different setup’s which was a purpose for this event. The stages are really nice and enjoyable,” said Paddon.

The rest of the TOP 6 includes: Eerik Pietarinen-Juhana Raitanen (Skoda Fabia R5),Jari Huttunen-Antti Linnaketo (Hyundai i20 R5) and Georg Gross-Raigo Mõlder (Ford Fiesta WRC).

On Sunday Rally Estonia continues with five stages, the last one starts 14.47 and the awarding ceremony in Tartu Raekoja square is held 16.00

Shell Helix Rally Estonia held on 13-15 of July is a round of Estonian and Latvian rally championships and FIA European Rally Trophy.
