    Lithuanians Martynas Samsonas / Mindaugas Varža fastest on shakedown

    15th May, the shakedown stage of Rally Talsi, the fourth round of the Latvian Rally Championship (LRČ), took place, with 39 of the 76 crews doing timed runs. Lithuanians Samsonas / Varža were the quickest, completing the 4.30 km gravel stage with a time of 2 minutes and 31.99 seconds. 2014 Champions Cup winners Švedas / Sakalauskas were 3.85 seconds behind, while the Talsi locals Hermanis / Veilands were third, 4.26 seconds behind the leader.

Three out of the four champions also took part in the shakedown in preparation for their battle for the Champions Cup. Finnish champion Koitla was fastest among them, setting the fourth time overall. Čapkauskas, the Lithuanian champion, was 2.43 seconds behind him (and sixth overall), while the Belarusian champion Viazovich was sixteenth overall, 12.82 seconds behind Koitla. Jānis Vorobjovs from Latvia did not participate in the shakedown.

The two fastest times in the front wheel drive LRČ3 class were set by Sports Racing Technologies crews – Sirmacis / Šimins (2 minutes and 53.64 seconds) and V. Gryazin / Lebedik (2 minutes and 54.99 seconds). Finnish crew Huttunen / Linnaketo, on their debut in Rally Talsi, were third fastest, 2.87 seconds behind the leader.

Rally Talsi special guest Haralds Šlēgelmilhs, who will use the event to popularize the movement 1836 that aims to promote travel within Latvia, was eight quickest, while Ivars Vasaraudzis / Oskars Bārtulis did not take part in the shakedown.
