    The new competition series – FIA Baltic Rally Trophy – is going to start this year

    This year, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) starts the new rally competition series “Baltic Rally Trophy”. It will determine the fastest rally drivers of the Baltic States and Finland.

FIA Baltic Rally Trophy is a FIA European Rally Trophy regional competition with one combined zoning including Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Finland. The series is internationally registered giving the opportunity for drivers also from Russia and other countries to compete for the trophy points and go further to the European Rally Trophy finals to be held in November in Austria.

There are eight regions in total of FIA European Rally Trophy contest - Balkan Rally Trophy, Alpine Rally Trophy, Iberian Rally Trophy, Benelux Rally Trophy, Celtic Rally Trophy, Central Rally Trophy, Scandinavian Rally Trophy and from now on – Baltic Rally Trophy. 

The fastest drivers will be determined in three classification groups, similar to existing classification in European Rally Championship. In addition, the individual event has been created for the pilots younger than 27 years old, who will compete for the Junior trophy.

FIA Baltic Rally Trophy will begin on May 6 – 7 in Liepāja with the Speed Festival - Rally “Kurzeme  2016” and finish on October 22 – 23 at the Rally “Latvija”. Two trophy contest stages will take place in Lithuania – at the “300 Lakes Rally” on August 12 – 13, and at “Rally Elektrenai” on September 9 - 10, while the last but one stage is also scheduled in Estonia, at the “Saaremaa Rally” on October 7 – 8. 

Three fastest crews from the each classification trial will participate in “Rally Waldviertel” that takes place on November 17 – 19 in Austria at the end of the season, where they will compete for the European Rally Trophy together with other regions rally winners.
