Rally Talsi Ceremonial Start After 60 Days

Today the first official document of Rally Talsi — the Rally Guide 1 — has been published, and it marks the start of the active stage of the rally organisation that will continue for 60 days until the ceremonial start of Rally Talsi on May 17. The Rally Guide 1 includes the main facts about the event so that sportsmen may commence full-fledged preparation for the event.

Simultaneously with publication of the Rally Guide 1 the special provisions on the Forbidden Territories have become effective. The above territories are the ones in the Talsi neighbourhood where presence of the rally participants until the event itself is possible only with the permission given by the rally organiser RA EVENTS, SIA. This is a usual practice in rally organization ensuring equal sportive footing both for local and foreign sportsmen.

“Weather conditions this year are rather changing and unpredictable. Also the current snowfall makes an impression that Rally Talsi is far away, however a calendar shows the opposite, and less than two months are left till the start of the summer season of the Latvian Rally Championship,” begins Raimonds Strokšs, director of Rally Talsi. “Currently, the rally planning stage has been replaced by practical organisation activities starting with preparation of 11 special stages. The rally special stages will include road sections well-known both for spectators and sportsmen as well as sections included in the Rally Talsi routing some years ago. The Rally programme will include also the spectators’ favourite city stage that will also have a crest – an element unseen for quite some time,” says Raimonds Strokšs.

“With pleasure and pride I can confirm that Rally Talsi will be! It is the beginning of spring, an international competition, joy of meeting, a party, a tradition and novelty at the same time; it is a testimony of our values and a fantastic event. The generations of organisers change, but Rally Talsi remains and develops as a stable value. Each year comes with new adventures, new leaders and even surprises. Two intensive rally days are followed by a year devoted to memories and organisation of a new event,” concludes Aivars Lācarus, the Chairman of the Talsi County Council.

Also this year the organiser of Rally Talsi RA EVENTS has invited to the competition in Talsi several rally champions from nearer and further countries. „Rally of Champions has already become an integral part of the event, and also this year I have already spoken with several champions about their participation in Rally Talsi. Currently competitors are still actively planning their summer plans; thus we will concentrate all our efforts in order to ensure that the traditions of the Rally of Champions continue also in 2014,” reveals Raimonds Strokšs.

Rally Talsi or Rally of Champions this year will be the fourth stage of the 2014 Latvian Rally Championship (LRC) and will be organised in the usual “Saturday-Sunday” format on May 17 & 18. As announced before, Rally Talsi this year will bear international significance as in addition to the LRC stage, Talsi will host also the stages of the Lithuanian Auto Rally Championship (LARC), the North European Zone (NEZ) Rally Championship and the NEZ Junior Championship.
